Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) provide intervention services and partner notification for people affected by HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea.
The Disease Intervention office is located at 119 W. 7th Street on the lower level. If you are a patient looking for STD/HIV testing services and resources, contact DIS at (812) 349-2829, (812) 349-2039, or (812) 349-2700 to learn about upcoming testing events or to schedule an appointment in the office.
The Disease Intervention Program is state funded and serves the following 12 counties: Bartholomew, Brown, Clay, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo.
The primary goal of disease intervention is to prevent the spread of disease and the development of complications. The program is comprised of the following core components:
- Surveillance
- Case Detection
- Case Follow-Up
- Education
