Medical Reserve Corps

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a national network of volunteers, organized locally to improve the health and safety of their communities. MRC volunteers include medical and non-medical persons interested in strengthening the preparedness and response capabilities of their county. MRC volunteers respond to emergencies when activated and build community resiliency in times of peace through public health activities and training opportunities. There are approximately 4,100 rostered MRC volunteers in Indiana, and over 200,000 volunteers nationwide. The Medical Reserve Corps of Monroe County is organized by the Monroe County Health Department and the unit's volunteer contribution is approximately 80.

The Monroe County MRC is always actively recruiting new volunteers from diverse backgrounds:  teachers, doctors, homemakers, veterinarians, students, retired individuals from any profession -- any one from any background is needed and welcome to join our unit! The only requirement is that you are 18 years of age or older and register for SERV-IN (state emergency registry of volunteers in Indiana) so you can be contacted in the event of an emergency. Instructions for registering on SERV-IN can be found here.
