Soil Analysis
Soil Analysis
All septic permit applications are required to be accompanied by a soil analysis conducted by a professional soil scientist registered with the Indiana Registry of Soil Scientists. Understanding the soil characteristics will determine the ability of the soil to handle the hydraulic load of wastewater.

Guidance from Monroe County Health:
You will need to contact a Registered Soil Scientist to obtain the required soil analysis and attach a copy of the report to your permit application. A septic permit will not be issued without first having the soil test performed and the report submitted.
You may wish to consult with a Certified Septic Installer to determine the best location for the septic absorption field and have it marked prior to the Soil Scientist's visit.
Visit our Septic System Installers page to find a list of Certified Septic Installers and Approved Pumpers and Haulers.
